Mindful Tools for Better Health
What has triggered your feelings of anxiousness and worry? Naturally caring and sensitive people experiencing the turbulent world around them, find themselves in overwhelm, overthinking, sensing tightness in your stomach, heart and/or experiencing shortness of breath. Over the long term, a repeated episode like these begins to re-wire our brain and thus negatively impacting our health.
Anxiety has reportedly affected over 40 million Americans a year. As daily responsibilities and expectations mount, modern man has found a way to better cope with trying times and unwanted pressure. Mindful practice and techniques are the sounding board to regaining a peaceful outlook on life and the best methods of retraining your brain toward positive life long benefits.
Three Mindfulness Steps:
- The moment you begin to feel anxious, breathe in deeply and breathe out deeply for several minutes. Move away from the chaos and breathe.
- Observe your thoughts in a nonjudgmental way. Simply observe, do not engage, rather observe and detach, similar to the way we watch a television program. We are not part of the show, simply observing the show.
- Gently shift your focus from fear, to simply being aware of your breath, become more present and realize in the present moment you are SAFE. Begin to quietly affirm: “I am calm”, “I am peaceful”, “I am safe”.
